During his high school years, John enjoyed drawing sports figures, action heroes, cars, planes, spaceships, warships and machinery and structures found in comic books and cartoons. He also filled out quite a few coloring books.
At 11 John discovered music and began playing the accordion. The detour into music continued through high school and John's artistic endeavors went dormant.
John has served in both the US Navy and the US Army. The experiences during these years contribute significantly to John's art.
Following his military service, John attended college. It was an art history class that rekindled John's interest in the visual arts.
While John enjoys working with various mediums, his primary goal is to hone his skills as an oil painter.
John prefers to create artwork that either elicits an emotional response, conveys a message or ideally, achieves both.
